TOEFL and GRE Requirements for Norwegian Students
TOEFL and GRE Requirements
English proficiency for potential graduate students from countries in which English is not the native language must normally be verified by an acceptable score of 560 or greater for unconditional satisfaction of this requirement. However, the SDSM&T Graduate Office will accept in lieu of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination score a favorable written recommendation from either a SDSM&T faculty member or an university professor from the country from the country of the applicant, who has been on an SDSM&T exchange status and/or who is familiar with graduate admission standards at SDSM&T.
The SDSM&T Graduate Office recommends that all applicants for graduate education take the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) General Test. However, individual departments and programs at SDSM&T determine whether the GRE is actually required or not. For those SDSM&T departments and programs that require the GRE, the evaluation of GRE scores from graduate school applicants is conducted by a designated individual in the corresponding department/program whose qualifications have been approved by the Dean of Graduate Education or his/her designee
