Insert an HPCNet site link, HPCNet Help
High Priority Connection Network Help Index

An HPCNet link is one that belongs to an organization within the HPCNet system, including all of your sites. This procedure will allow you to search for other sites using keywords and/or words contained in the site title.

The following procedure shows you how to insert an HPCNet Link from the "Update Links Page". The procedure assumes that you have already logged into the system, created a site, and are in the update screen for the site that you want to create a link from. For instructions on how to create a site, see the instructions titled "How to Create a Site". For instruction on how to update an existing site, see the instructions titled "How to Update an Existing Site". The following is an example of the update screen.

Step 1: Go to the Update Links section.

Step 2.1: Link Existing Page by Search

Step 2.1.1: Set the dropdown fields.

Step 2.1.2: Submit, Cancel, Reset your search.

Step 2.1.3: Submit, Cancel, Retry, Select All.

Step 2.2: Link Existing Page By Site

This feature is used when you know the HPCNet Site ID or the Virtual URL for a site. Select the Link Existing Page By Site button. This will open the following window.

If you are using the Virtual URL, enter the address you provided in the Update window for General Information in the field labeled: Establish the URL for your HPCNet Site.

If you are using the Site ID, enter the number at the end of the URL generated when the page was created.

Select Submit at the top of the page and the following window will appear.

If the site was linked successfully, then the statement "CREATED Site ID is equal to <site id you entered>." If the site was not linked successfully, then the statement "FAILED   Virtual URL is equal to '<virtual url>'."

If you wish to add more links, select Retry at the top of the page. If not, then click Done.

Step 4: Leave the Update Links mode.

To learn how put text before and after your links, see Enhance Links with Text.

To learn how to make your pre and post text more noticeable, see Easy Text Enhancements with HTML.
