Chemical Engineering Program Objectives & Outcomes
 


ChE Program Objectives

Through the baccalaureate degree, students are prepared to become practicing chemical engineers, ready to enter the workforce and make immediate contributions. The chemical engineering program produces graduates who can perform at a level that meets or exceeds industry expectations. Within a few years of their graduation, our graduates should have the characteristics described by the following Program Educational Objectives.

  1. Graduates possess fundamental and practical knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, process control, and design of chemical engineering processes.

  2. Prepare graduates to work in government and industrial positions at the state and national level, and who are able to work in select high-tech areas, such as, biochemical engineering, environmental engineering, hands-on process engineering and computer control, and materials science and engineering.

  3. Prepare graduates who can succeed in graduate school and research.


ChE Program Outcomes

Through the baccalaureate degree, students are prepared to become practicing chemical engineers, ready to enter the workforce and make immediate contributions. The chemical engineering program will produce graduates who will be expected to be able to perform at a level that meets or exceeds industry expectations. Within a few years of their graduation, our graduates should have the following characteristics.

  1. Graduates possess fundamental and practical knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, process control, and design of chemical engineering processes.

  2. Graduates are able to apply critical thinking skills to the solution of chemical engineering problems.

  3. Graduates possess effective oral and written communication skills for work in a technical environment.

  4. Graduates are able to interact effectively as team members and in leadership roles.

  5. Graduates are able to apply computer tools effectively in a variety of project situations.

  6. Graduates are motivated to continue learning throughout their lives.
