This page contains general course notes, i.e., supplements to the Student Manual, and other important information for all GES 115 students.
Textbook and Syllabus
The text for this course consists of separate documents, or chapters, that have been provided on a CD and is available at the Tech Bookstore. This page contains sullemental course materials, such as assignments, room and lab schedules, etc. There is also a syllabus link below. From the syllabus, those subjects that have a "Chapter" listing under the "Readings" will have an appropriately labeled document on the CD. It is up to each individual student to have read these materials prior to the class in which they will be discussed.
Course CD Notes: All disc's are set to autorun and open the main page. If autorun fails, click 'start/run/browse' and search the CD ROM drive. Double-click on file name: ges115.htm and click 'OK'. The file should open at that time. All materials on the CD are accessible from this main course page.
Important Course Information
Teaming Presentation
Thuesday, January 31 at 4 PM. Room CB 204. This meeting will be our 1st common meeting hour of the term. One of the Tech faculty having expertise in teaming will talk about teaming and industry needs related to this issue. This will serve as out introduction to the teaming work we will do in each GES 115 section during the semester.
Engineering & Science Discipline Presentations
Each program participating in GES 115 will be making two short presentations on their repsective disciplines. Each team must cover all 12 presentations and submit a team-written memo providing important information from each of the presentaions. These presentations will be made on Feb. 28 and Mar. 15, 2006. The current room assignments are given below:

Career Fair
Thursday, February 9, 2006 from 9AM to 4PM, SDSM&T will host the annual Fall Career Fair in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. There will be more than 50 companies represented on that day. Be sure and visit the fair through the day. There is an assignment associated with the Career Fair
First-Year Engineering & Science Forum
Thursday, February 9, 2006 from 4-5 PM is the First-Year Engineering and Science Forum that will be held in CB 204. This is a required course event with an assignment (see 'attachments' below for a description of the homework assignment). There will be a panel of industry professionals representing a broad spectrum of industry whom you will be able to question. Come prepared with questions for the panel members.

Alternate Assignment
For those who are not able to attend the Engineering Forum due to work, etc., written notification must be provided to your instructor prior to Feb. 9. An alternate assignment will be provided by your instructor.
