Commencement - Spring 2009
The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology held its 159th Commencement on Saturday, May 9, in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena. More than 200 graduates received associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees. In addition, Kenneth G. May (CE61) received the Guy E. March Medal.
The regular commencement ceremony was preceded by the investiture of School of Mines President Robert A. Wharton, Ph.D.
Jolesh Photography is providing photography services to the graduates. Photos will be available online at www.jolesch.com and proofs will be mailed to graduates approximately one week following the ceremony.
Dr. Jeffrey Wadsworth joined the School of Mines as commencement speaker. Dr. Wadsworth currently serves as president and CEO of Battelle, the world's largest non-profit research and development organization.
Ms. Melanie Satchell (interdisciplinary sciences, Pleasant Dale, Nebraska) represented the student body.
