Commencement - Fall 2008
The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology held its 158th Commencement on Saturday, December 20, in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theater. More than 100 graduates received bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees. In addition, more than five alumni were honored with Distinguished Alumni Awards.

Admiral William F. Pearson joined the School of Mines as commencement speaker. Prior to his retirement in 1994, Admiral Pearson served as Assistant Surgeon General and Chief Engineer of the U.S. Public Health Service.
Mr. Jason Fields (mechanical engineering, Milbank) represented the student body.
