Campus Emergency Procedures - Safety Policies
The following safety policies are enforced at SDSM&T:
- Flammable liquids (such as gasoline) shall not be stored in residence halls or inside any buildings except in NFPA cabinets approved for flammable storage.
- No open flames (candles, lanterns, incense, etc.) are permitted in residence halls or inside any buildings except laboratories and maintenance shops designed for this purpose.
- No fireworks shall be used or stored on campus.
- The speek limit on campus is 15 mph; parking lots are 5 mph.
- Vehicles shall be parked in designated areas only with permit displayed on mirror. Fire lanes and parking spaces for those who are physically challenged are clearly defined.
- South Dakota state law prohibits skate boarding, roller blading, or riding scooters on state property, which includes SDSM&T.
- Weapons are not allowed on campus. Exceptions for residence hall students, see residence life handbook. All other weapons brought on campus must have prior approval by the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
