Budgeting for Non-Profits

Do you manage a budget, or are you on the board of a non-profit and need to understand more about budgeting? This is the workshop will help you understand the basics of budgeting, including:

•Overview of financial planning
•Types of budgets
•Developing different budgets, including program budgets
•Managing a Business, an organization, or a program on a budget
•Modifying budgets as needed

Since developing a budget takes practice, time will be spent developing sample budgets, so bring a budget or current project so you can practice in class. Feel free to bring your own laptop computer, or a zip drive with your files so what you work on can be applied when you return to work. (*Please let us know if you need a laptop.)

This workshop will be taught by Stephanie Schweitzer Dixon, a grant writer and consultant for non-profit organizations for ten years. She has a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Mary. Schweitzer Dixon has authored and introductory grant writing manual and an advanced grant writing manual. She is currently working on additional manuals on non-profit management and fundraising practices. Schweitzer Dixon is also the part-time director of a non-profit organization.
