Working with Geodatabases
(Advanced ArcGIS Topic)


This course covers the characteristics of the geodatabase data model and introduces some of its special features and functions used to create spatial data and maintain its integrity. Course participants should already be familiar with the basic display and analysis functions of ArcMap and ArcCatalog, and possess a basic understanding of coordinate systems and map projections. Tentative outline (changed at instructor's discretion):
  1. Basic editing of feature classes
  2. Advanced editing functions
  3. Creating feature datasets
  4. Using attribute domains
  5. Using the split and merge policies
  6. Creating and using subtypes
  7. Understanding topology
  8. Using topology for editing
  9. Using network analysis
  10. Creating networks
