Grant funding can
be the lifeblood of research. Come to this workshop to advance
your grant writing skills and help your career and your department by
becoming more competitive in applying for grants.This workshop will
include:
- Identifying funding options - RFPs & BAAs
- Budget preparation and the Circulars
- Evaluation components in proposals
- Polishing your proposal
- How proposals are evaluated by reviewers
- IRB's and general research ethics
Participants should be college faculty, college researchers, graduate
students or grant writers serving higher education.
This workshop will be taught by L. Eric James II, J.D., M.S.,
director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at the South Dakota School
of Mines and Technology. Mr. James has worked for the last decade
in sponsored programs and has been involved with over $250 Million in
successful proposals during that time. He has certificates in Cost
Principals: OMB Circulars A-21, A-122, A-87 & FAR 31.2; has spoken as a
presenter at the National Service Corporation Conference on Fiscal Grant
Compliance: Cost Allocation Plans & OMB Circulars, Dec 2004; as a
presenter at Blaine House Conference on Volunteerism: Grants Management
from Creation to Close, Oct 2005; and has served as a meeting
paper-presenter reviewer for the NACUBO 2009 Annual Meeting "Advancing
with Technology" Track.
