1. Bill Clemente called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. and presented the agenda.  The assessment plan summary was passed out with the substitution of All Faculty Assessment Meetings and Assessment Team Meetings for General Education Faculty Retreat. Bill encouraged all faculty to track changes in programs from the beginning of this year on, and if possible to revisit changes made in the past.

2. Ted Harshbarger presented the CAAP results.  A certificate of achievement was received by 72/182 who took the test.  The standard scaled scores are based on the sophomore level.  The numbers for certificates of achievements are down somewhat from last year.  Since the completion another 20 tests have been given.  Of the 34/40  seniors who took the test, 24/34 tried their best.

3. Paul Hinrichs presented additional information about the CAAP results. His conclusions based on the data are:

    a. Most students don’t give much effort

    b. For teaching and nonteaching majors, there was no significant difference in the scores

    c. Math scores for seniors were lower.

    d. Females received higher scaled scores than males.

    e. For those who indicated they had given their best effort, a number of students scored in the 25th  percentile or below.  (60 in writing out of 216, 19 in math, 35 in Critical Thinking, and 25 in science)

    f. Science was better for seniors who had been freshmen at our campus.

    g. There was no difference in the Critical Thinking scores for transfer or freshmen enrolled students.

    h. Ted indicated that there would be additional CAAP results and that there were a maximum of 10 extra questions possible.

4. The group indicated that instead of adding questions, many of those could be covered in 401 as a part of the exit survey.

5. An evaluation form for On-Line Classes was presented to the group with a chunking of questions.  This was developed and revised by faculty senate.

6. Paul Hinrichs presented the on-line evaluation form and suggested that it would be possible to also use this for ‘live’ classes.

7. Ellie Kunkel presented the programs and assessments for physical education.

8. Kelly Asmussen presented the course assessments and case analysis for criminal justice.

9. Korinne Tande visited with faculty about the Turnitin program and encouraged faculty to use the demonstration program.  A majority of the faculty by hands raised indicated they would be interested in using the project.

10. The next week for the Assessment Team will be Wednesday, February 14 at 3:30.  The next meeting for the All-Faculty Assessment group will be Friday, February 16th.  Topics will include additional program reviews, a report from Dr. Tande regarding HLC assessments and a discussion of online assessment.  Other agenda items should be sent to Bill Clemente.

Meeting adjourned at 12:00
