Michael Murphy and Dan Holtz Perform at Peru State College
On Thursday, October 19, at 2:00, Dan Holtz and Michael Murphy will perform in Benford Hall as part of the Peru State College Creative Writing Series.
A popular Professor of English at Peru State College, singer and song writer Dan Holtz travels the state--and even performed in Washington, D.C.--entertaining people of all ages with his songs of Nebraska and of the Civil War.
His first CD, "Welcome to Historic Nebraska!," features Dan and "The Old-Time Acoustical Band" playing and singing eighteen original and traditional songs about Nebraska; the CD also features Dan's stories from Nebraska's "Pioneering and Settlement Days."
On his most recent CD, "All Original, All Nebraska," Dan introduces new songs about Nebraska's Early Days and includes Native American flute player Michael Murphy. If you wish to purchase one of Dan Holtz's CDs, contact him at dholtz@oakmail.peru.edu.
For the October 19 performance, Dan will join Michael for a couple songs.
Michael Murphy makes his second appearance at Peru State College; he performed to a large and appreciative audience last fall, and you can see pictures of his performance by clicking here.
This link will take you to information about Michael Murphy's background and his music.
And this link will take you to Michael's homepage, where you will find links about his music and learn how you can purchase an excellent Michael Murphy CD; Michael lists all his albums here and supplies samples of his flute playing--take a moment and listen to "Amazing Gradce," Song for Rita," and others.
We look forward to having Michael Murphy back at Peru State College and to hearing Dan Holtz join with Michael for our enjoyment.
This year's Creative Writing Series performances are dedicated to the memory of Toney McCrann.
