Week Eight Creative Writing Reading Assignment
This week, brings this eight-week excursion to a conclusion; you will by midnight Monday, October 17, a Monday, have turned in all your work. I give you this additional day because I want to give you an additional day for getting work finished.
If you have questions or concerns, of course, contact me.
In the Creative Writing Guide, read "The Voice of a Story: Point of View," 224-238. This short chapter contains some valuable information for your writing and for material you work on this week.
You will find brief notes in the usual spot.
Your other reading assignments fall into two categories:
1. As you have done all term, continue to read and comment on the material your fellow writers send to the Discussion Thread, especially the Short Stories and the Final Projects.
2. Go to the following link on my web page and check out the array of web logs devoted to creative writing. This list, linked in a previous Discussion Thread, offers some of the most popular and the best locations on the internet. Look and read and share insights and reactions with your fellow writers about these twenty or so sites in this week's final discussion thread of the semester
3. At this site, you will find three "fables" by Kyoko Yoshida, whom I met at an International Creative Writing Festival in Nebraska City; I served as a judge for the very successful event a few years ago.
At any rate, Kyoko got her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and now teaching at a university in Japan. She was kind enough to send these works for this class to read. As this week's writing assignment indicates, you can write your own "fable" for your final project, using Kyoko's selections as inspiration or complete confusion! (Each of the past few years, I have thought to get rid of these fables; however, the range of comments and reactions continue to entertain.)
So read your text, investigate web logs, enjoy the very odd fables, and read your fellow writers' work.
And, of course, get your video project posted for everyone to share with you.
Remember, too, that you must fulfill the proctored project for this class.
