Assignments for British Literature for Monday, October 11, and Wednesday, October 13

Continue reading in Great Expectations. You want to complete the novel by Wednesday, October 20 when we return from midterm break.

For this week, aim to get to where I mentioned in class--and as I suggested, you all should come to class equipped with a passage you find interesting and wish to discuss.

You have a lot of characters, and matters become detail-packed when Pip eventually goes to London; and he takes his experiences with him, so keep in mind all that happened in the opening pages of the novel.

Read with enthusiasm.

I will bring a film version of Great Expectations to class, but I want to devote at least forty minutes of the periods on Monday and Wednesday to what you see as interesting in the novel.

By Wednesday, October 13, I will read to the end of Chapter 32.
