Serve as Chair for English Search Committee for Full-Time Instructor in English Composition.
Lincoln Journal Star includes article on the Seven Wonders of Southeast Nebraska and lists my blog entry for the Roland Sherman Memorial Area, on-line slide show of the Trace Trail and Roland Sherman sculptures, and the video I made and published on You Tube. January 5.
As SCEA Union President, I chaired a Board Meeting, a teleconference with representatives from Wayne State, Peru State, and Chadron State Colleges. Lincoln. January 10.
To help with fundraising efforts by the Department of Music, I created a video of the Jazz Band. The video is published on You Tube at this site. (and on my Around Peru blog) January 12.
Helped with the Peru Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, a fundraiser. Posted pictures of event on Around Peru Blog and on Flickr. January 10.
Continue to serve as Faculty Advisor for Student Senate.

Serve as Faculty Sponsor for the English Club and Faculty Advisor for the publication of the student creative writing publication, The Sifting Sands. Created blog page to coordinate information about the English Club activities.
Attended and created blog entry and slide show for printmaker Brett Anderson's Gallery Talk, "Hindsight and Rambling Ways." January 23.
Gave presentation on "The Roland Sherman Memorial Area and the Trace Trail" for the Peru Kiwanis Club. January 23.
Chaired as SCEA President negotiator telephone meeting on compaction. January 25.
As a member of the NEA's Legislative Contact Team, I took part in Lobby Day at the unicameral and spoke with state senators about bills of importance to education. Created a blog entry and a brief slide show. January 31.
Attended Professor of Art Ken Anderson's band performance at the local VFW, took pictures, and created a video (posted on my blog) of the evening for community interest. February 1.
Member of Fine Arts Building Renovation Committee.
Gave a presentation of the Trace Trail films to the Trace Trail Commission. The Trace Trail project now includes three films: The Roland Sherman Memorial Area; Some Flora and Fauna of the Trace Trail; Common Birds of the Trace Trail. Attended and gave two presentations--"(More) Feathers and Verses"--at the Nebraska Reading Association Conference. Created here a blog entry on both this conference and Feathers and Verses. Kearney. February 21-23.
Took pictures at, made videos of, and created blog entries (photograph links and You Tube videos) for the Peru State Concert Choir and the Choral Festival Honor Choir at Peru State College. Sunday, February 24, and on Tuesday, February 25.

With Chet Harper, retired Professor of Drama, read Dr. Seuss books to children and performed for the fifth year in a row "Green Eggs and Ham" for kindergarten and first grade students at Tarkio Elementary School. Photographs and video here. Tarkio, MO. March 3.

Serve as Treasurer for the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. Attended organization's conference in Orlando, where I gave a paper: "Ted Hughes' Iron Giants in a World of Wounds"; I also chaired a panel on "Gender in Children's Literature." Created a blog entry with a slide show from the conference and made a video from still images--links are posted here and in the IAFA Newsletter. Orlando. March 18-23.
The Peru State College Creative Writers Series and the English Club hosted Western writer Marcus Galloway, who spoke to an interested gathering of college folks about the publishing industry and how he makes his living by writing. Asked by the Nemaha Natural Resources District to create a video from my images along the Trace Trail to become part of the NRD web site. March 26.

Took part in the Great Nebraska Mushroom Festival at the Trace Trail Head. Donated eight of my framed bird photographs for prizes. April 27.
Featured presenter at Falls City Library as part of "Kansas-Nebraska Chautauqua: Bright Dreams, Hard Times: America in the Thirties." Gave presentation on John Ford's "Grapes of Wrath" and John Steinbeck's novel. May 2.
As member of Executive Board of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts attended Spring Board Meeting in Orlando, FL May 28-June1.
Made two trips to Lodi Marsh, Lodi, Wisconsin, creating a blog page devoted to the area and the work of colleague Dr. Beth Middleton; Beth uses the site for her presentations about the area. She is Botanist for the USGS National Wetlands Research Center in Lafayette, LA. May 17 and May 27.

As part of the Trace Trail Film Project for the Nebraska Department of Resources, I traveled to Peru, NE, to take summer pictures along the Trace Trail. July 7-10.
Offered English Brush-Up Session to STAR students as part of Freshman Orientation. August 20.
As part of Freshman Orientation events, I served as a Faculty Mentor and met with students and their parents. Also served on a Faculty Expectations Panel for a large gathering of the student's parents. August 22.
Featured presenter at the Brownville Lyceum's Sunday Forum. Showed and discussed the Trace Trail Trilogy Expanded Versions and discussed common birds in the area. August 24.

Attended and spotted at the first Peru State Football Game of the year; spot at home games. August 30.
Gave presentation in Dr. John Hnida's Ornithology and Mammology class on Common Peru Area Birds and went with the group on field trips; attended and photographed the Raptor Recovery group's talk and bird show in the classroom. Made blog entry. September 2.
Featured presenter at the Peru Museum's Annual Meeting. Showed photographs taken in early July of the flowers and landmarks along the Trace Trail between Nebraska City and Brownville. September 14.
Gave paper, "Stalker, Tarkovsky's Another Roadside Picnic," and chaired session, "Graphic Novels," at 32nd Annual Colloquium on Literature and Film at West Virginia University, September 11-14.
Attended the Apple Valley Literacy Group's Fall Meeting held at Peru State College and created a blog entry for the group. September 16.
Took part in activities to commemorate the Rededication of the Al Wheeler Athletic Center and took photographs of the event for the college community. September 16.
Photographed and created a blog entry of Constitution Day activities for Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honors Society. September 17.
Went to the famous Zoo Bar in Lincoln to take video and photographs Gladys Kravitsz's performance; the band includes Dr. Pat Fortney, Dean of Arts and Science, and the bass player for the band. September 30.
To support the Peru Foundation's National Alumni Association, I went to the Wine and Cheese activity at the Schilling Bridge Winery and Micro brewery in Pawnee City and took photographs for the Foundation. October 1.
Attended the Peru State Jazz Band's Concert in the Air and posted photographs and video of the event. October 2.
Took part in the Faculty and Staff Talent Show and performed in a skit, "Leader of the Pack.". Also took photographs of the event and posted a video. October 9
Went to showings of "I Do, I Do" at the Peru State Theater. Posted photographs and video of the performances. October 10.
Served as Announcer for the Homecoming Parade and announced the Homecoming King and Queen Festivities. Also made a blog entry for the college community that includes photographs by others. October 11.
Photographed and made video of the Peru State Music Faculty Recital. October 14.
Featured presenter for the Children's Section of the Nebraska Book Festival. Gave presentation of Feathers and Verses and supervised children's coloring of bird pictures. October 18-19.
Attended Mole Day festivities in Hoyt and posted video and photographs of the day's activities and the Magic Show in particular. October 23.
Took photographs and made video at the 27th Annual Show Choir Festival in the Peru State College Theater. October 28-29.
To support History Honors Society, I attended and took photographs for the blog of the Election Night Party. November 4.
For the Academic Recourse Center, took photographs and made blog entry with slide show of General Walter Zink's presentation, "Ordinary People Doing Extra-Ordinary Things." November 6.
Helped transport the Peru State Jazz and Pep Bands to Auburn High School for a Community Pep Rally prior to the final Bobcat Football Game of the year. November 8.
Attended Peter Kuznick's speech "The Kennedy Assassination: History's Greatest Turning Point?" sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta. Took photographs for the History Honor Society's event. November 10.
The English Club sponsors Board Game Night in the Student Center. November 11.
Gave paper, "The Stalker's Dream" at the Foreign Language Film Conference--Exile, Migration, Identity--held at Louisiana State University. November 13-15.
Attended and made video and a slide show of the Peru State College Fall Choir Festival. November 16.
Served on Faculty Panel for visiting students from Lincoln High Schools for an event sponsored by the college to interest perspective students. November 16.
Guest speaker for the Auburn Optimists' Club. Gave presentation about my creative writing sessions with youngsters (Feathers and Verses). November 22.
Went to Dr. Bill Snyder's Management Marketing Class's presentation about their class project for the Durham Western Heritage Museum, which contacted the Peru State College Marketing Management class, asking the members to develop brochures for the museum's summer camps. November 25.
One of the featured speakers for an event at the Lied Center: Youth Leadership Nebraska City: Heritage and Tourism Day for selected high school students. I talked about the Trace Trail and showed my video of the Sherman Memorial Area. November 26.
Attended the Peru State College Bands' Fall Concert, taking photographs and video for the college community. December 7.
Attended Peru State College's Annual Madrigal Dinner where I took video and images for the Music Department and the college community. December 12 and 13.
