Winter Travel

 

NUMBER:  IV-09 (Formerly Policy IV-A-23) 

 

This policy is necessary for the protection of state employees and for the state itself against potential liability associated with any travel accidents that may occur during severe winter storm conditions.

 

No state vehicle will be issued by either Fleet and Travel or Facilities Services when hazardous road conditions exist and a travel advisory has been issued by either the South Dakota Department of Transportation or the South Dakota Highway Patrol.  State vehicles will become available when the travel advisory has been lifted.
