Company interviewing selection varies...A company coming to SDSM&T to interview is also visiting other universities to recruit the best possible candidates. Therefore, you are not only competing within SDSM&T, but against other candidates at other universities. The eligibility criteria are determined by the company.
Signing up for an interview...Our new e-recruiting system will allow you to sign up electronically for interviews. For employers using the open sign-up method, qualified students can sign up on a first-come, first-served basis for their preferred interview time slot. Only students meeting the employer's specified qualifications will be able to sign up. Prior to the employer's campus visit, changes are sometimes made by the company; therefore, it is wise to regularly check with the Career Center for any changes that may occur.
Prescreening applicants...Many employers often choose to prescreen the resumes and cover letters in order to select the candidates they want to interview. Through our e-recruiting system, you will submit your resumes and cover letters directly to the employers. Strive to tailor your cover letters to individual employers and to the specific jobs for which you are applying. When preparing your cover letters, be sure to read the job descriptions provided by the employers. The employer will screen the resumes/cover letters and then select the students they wish to interview. Those selected can then sign up electronically for an interview slot on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility for interviewing...To apply for prescreens or sign up for an interview, all students MUST be registered in the Career Center's e-recruiting system. In order to register, you must indicate that you have read and agree with Career Center's Privacy Policy. Registration with our office is voluntary, but does involve obligations on your part as well as the Career Center.
