What Can You Do with an ATM Degree from SDSM&T?
You can become a:
- Meteorologist/ Forecaster for Government or Private Industry
- Research Scientist
- College Professor
- Weathercaster
Career opportunities exist with such agencies as the National Weather Service, NASA, the EPA, the military, US Forest Service, and government environmental departments. You also have the chance to be a part of cutting-edge science conducting research for the National Science Foundation, NASA, USGS, EROS Data Center, or in a university setting, such as at IAS here as SDSM&T. Private companies employ research scientists within their own Research & Development departments to study the latest in environmental issues. Some of our graduates have chosen careers as professors at universities across the country who will train the next group of scientists and meteorologists. You can work for a number of agencies as a weathercaster. Perhaps you like to be “on camera”, presenting the weather forecast to your local community or nationwide, or “on the web”. Television, radio, and the internet are all available sources of employment as a media weathercaster. Several of our students have worked for local television stations, gaining valuable experience for future work in the media.
